For Backpacking and Hiking

Being in the wilderness is a whole different ball game than being in an urban environment. Even though you can get “lost” by turning down the wrong street while driving or being turned around while sidewalk shopping in a big city, you’re never really lost because there are still a lot of people around and everything you need to simply survive.

Outdoor systems are extremely important for those that like to get lost in the wilds, but be able to find their way back out when their trip is over. The
best hiking GPS would be one that has the following qualities.

Here are the best GPS review guidelines:

  • Lightweight - You certainly don’t want to carry around a big clunky unit that weighs you down. A backpacking GPS should be made out of lightweight and durable materials.

  • Easy to Use - It’s pointless to have a device that is difficult to understand and interpret. An easy to use handheld GPS is one that you can easily enter waypoints into and then retrieve them quickly when needed. You will also want to be able to painlessly create trail maps that you can refer to time and time again.

  • Durable - GPS handheld units that have a long battery life are ideal. You also want to be able to trust that the best GPS systems will stand up to some rough treatment. As in, if you happen to drop it, it won’t break. Definitely invest in a waterproof handheld system because you should always expect some rain or to accidentally drop it in the stream during a crossing.

    Mapping

Don’t forget to invest in some good GPS map software too. There are many different kinds available, depending on where you are and the quality you want.

    Cost and Pricing

If you are looking for the best price GPS then make sure you check out sales and promotions. You can also choose simpler models.

Just because you don’t have all the bells and whistles like a digital camera and remote online waypoint marking, doesn’t mean you don’t have a super quality device. Read a best GPS review to find out if a device is right for you.

If you are looking to buy GPS online and are interested in some great deals, check out the sales below. They are all on sale, but hurry because these prices won’t last long.

    Auto Units

If you’re looking for the best portable GPS for your car, it’s important to read the reviews. Previous users will be able to tell you if they generally liked the product or if it was bad.

If you’re thinking to buy GPS now, go ahead and order it at least a month in advance of when you need it. That way if it’s not working right or you simply don’t like it, you can send it back and wait for a new one to arrive without feeling pressured.

If you're interested in some additional and useful technology, check out best bluetooth GPS through the reviews.
